I LOVE BEAR LAKE!!! This year was even more fun because the water was so high and we didn't have to pack up our stuff for the day and walk a mile to go to the beach. We had a BLAST as usual and are excited for next year all ready. We do have one more trip before the season is over in a few weekends as long as the weather will cooperate. Leda's-Tim's Family brought their new boat so Jason got to try out water skiing and hasn't done that in probably at least 9 years. The kids even did the tube and had a blast. We went on sail boat rides, kayak rides/races, and lots of digging in the sand, burying people, we ate lots of good food, and had a good time. When it was time to pack up to go home on Sunday I was sure not ready to go back to real life.
My sister, Jenna & cousin Leslie thought of an activity to do for everyone so we got together and planned "The Shurtleff Amazing Race!" It was a lot of fun and we asked everyone after if they want to do something similar next year and everyone did, so I think it was a hit. (Each Team went from clue to clue from obstacle course, Frisbee golf, finding a buried treasure and putting together the puzzle, swimming to the kayak grabbing a watermelon and eating it, Easter egg hunt type activity, water in the bucket activity, kayak race, and more.) I also brought the fixin' for candy sushi, a favorite little activity/treat now of the kids since Tanner did it in school last year. You take a Fruit Roll up, unroll it, smash a Rice Krispie Treat out on it, then you smash gummy fish/worms/sharks into it, roll it up, then cut it, it looks like sushi, it really is a fun treat.
